TESTIMONIALS
What students say about us
“When I started violin lessons with Emil, I wasn’t sure if it was still possible to learn to play beautiful music from scratch as an adult. I only knew I love violin music and that it was unacceptable to not try to get to know the instrument better. I started my first lesson as any child would, with Emil explaining the four different strings on a violin to me. It wasn’t easy to start learning like a child again after being in the adult world, but Emil always makes me feel like it is the most natural thing in the world. I enjoy my lessons a lot and have committed myself to spending every weekend and many vacation days on practicing.
In 12 months I went from zero violin skill to be able to play Rieding’s Violin Concerto. Knowing how to play violin has enriched my life enormously and I was lucky to be able to find such a good teacher to get me on the right track.”

F.A.Q.
Generally, recommended starting age for violin lessons is around 6 years old.
But, because every child is different, some can start earlier, at the age of 4 or 5. Also possible to start at he age of 6 or 7 or later. We recommend starting as early as possible.
A child’s readiness to learn the violin (or any musical instrument) can be viewed from two perspectives: Physical and Psychological.
Physically, the child should be able to hold the violin and the bow. Psychologically, they should be able to understand the teacher and maintain concentration for at least 30 minutes.
The best way to assess it is to schedule a 30-minute trial Violin lesson. During the lesson, teacher and parent will have a clear understanding of whether your child is ready to start violin lessons or may be better to wait before starting music lessons.
Violin lesson length depends on the student’s level, age, and availability. We recommend starting with a 30-minute lesson once or twice a week. Later lessons can be increased to 45 minutes. At the age of 10, many of our students take 60-minute lessons, or even 90-minute lessons.
Important to know that effectiveness of the lesson matters more than the length. The optimal lesson length is always individual according to the students needs and progress.
You should have a Violin on the first lesson. We can provide for you Violin during the trial lesson if it’s popular size Violin and if we have it. Or you can buy inexpensive Violin online for about $60-$150. During the first years, most of the students buy inexpensive violins.
Violins come in different sizes: 1/8 (or smaller), 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 (full size).
Trial lesson will depend on the student’s level.
More advanced students may perform piece, allowing the teacher to evaluate technique and provide a feedback on the musical performance.
For beginners who have never played the violin before, the lesson starts with the basics: how to hold the instrument, how to play open strings (first pizzicato, after with the bow), and simple exercises including clapping rhythms and etc.
To assess musical abilities and musical hearing, teacher may play a melody and ask if music goes “up” or “down”. Or ask to repeat or clap simple melody and etc.
